Shanghai Buzz

Shanghai Buzz was the first independent magazine published in Shanghai since 1949, by HSD, a precursor of SinoMedia Ltd. It lasted for seven issues from July 2, 1998, and then was closed down due to pressure resulting from the fact that it was clearly going to be profitable and successful, and therefore a threat to existing state publications. It was a blast to produce and surely earned for itself a footnote in the history of publishing in China. The editor was Erica Lewis, Editorial consultant Graham Earnshaw, business manager Tony Zhang, designer Vippy Yee, and sales by Lititia Zhang and Jenny Du. RIP. Byeee!
