THE SUGAR CANE PRESS

No home should be without one of these little numbers (I use mine for propping open the kitchen door). As they were utilitarian items they are usually of a modest wood and range in size from that of a big foot to as large as a sawhorse for the industrial-use press. In the fancier models the vertical stanchion is carved with the Sacred Mushroom or perhaps the Cloud motif. Some have been gussied up with varnish (for the tourists) but the genuine item should show signs of use.

There is a neat spout for the sugar cane juice to shoot out of, and if oranges were not so messy you could probably squeeze your morning glass from this nifty item.

The price range depends on your bargaining power, but I would suggest around 8O yuan to be reasonable.
